The wrongs let loose on Sudan’s El-Fasher last October were a “preventable human rights disaster”, the UN legal rights chief said Monday, advising they now ran the risk of being duplicated in Kordofan. Giving the UN Human Rights Council an upgrade on the situation in El-Fasher, Volker Turk decried the dreadful scenes after the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) released a “wave of extreme physical violence”, following 18 months of brutal siege.
