Paying tribute to his grandfather whose 1983 program at the same venue lasted only one evening the actor and comedian skilfully unveils a big reveal deserving of Inside No 9
There is glamour to Rufus Hound’s mesmerism, mind card, analysis and seance methods in this “magic program” although it’s not precisely up there with the breathless virtuosity of Derren Brown. That is because he is a family member ingenue, having actually discovered these methods in 2020 when he discovered that his late grandfather, Ken Gittens, had actually attempted his hand at being an illusionist. Posters revealing his grinning image hang in the backdrop of Jasmine Swan’s collection, and Hound, dressed in the same velvet jacket and bow tie, resembles an extra dashing modern-day variation.
