Hello and welcome to The Long Wave. Recently I went to enjoy the play Deep Azure, written by the late actor Chadwick Boseman, at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, part of the Globe theatre in London. It’s a show loaded with verve, poetry powered by hip-hop, Jacobean knowledgeable and wonderfully choreographed motion. I spoke to Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu, the play’s director, regarding the relevance of revitalizing Black work and the duty of not just honouring Boseman’s memory but likewise showcasing the full range of the Black experience worldwide.
