In this edition of our movie show, critic Emma Jones speaks to Eve Jackson about the current movie launches, consisting of “The History of Sound” from supervisor Oliver Hermanus. It stars Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor as two men that fall in love in the darkness of World War I. The film premiered in competitors at Cannes to lukewarm testimonials, yet Emma suggests its peaceful, quelched portrayal of a gay connection formed by its era is exactly what provides it psychological pressure.
