French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez saw Algeria on Monday in what could signify a thaw in connections between both countries. Under his precursor, Bruno Retailleau, France tightened entrance conditions for Algerian mediators and endangered retaliation if Algeria declined to repossess its people gotten to leave French territory. Ties got worse further after France recognised Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara, a region at the heart of a decades-long dispute.
