France: Macron unveils voluntary army service in face of Russia threat

After conscription was abolished in 1997, French President Macron introduced a new volunteer program aimed at youngsters aged 18– 19, with a target of 10,000 employees by 2030. Macron’s news comes over three and a half years into Russia’s full-scale intrusion of Ukraine, amid growing danger and risk of a new problem in Europe.
