Brazil’s Supreme Court on Wednesday founded guilty 2 previous lawmakers of purchasing the 2018 murder of Rio de Janeiro councilwoman Marielle Franco, a prominent black protestor whose murder exposed deep ties between national politics and arranged criminal activity. Franco, an LGBTQ activist who matured in a favela and came to be a forthright doubter of Rio’s effective militia groups, was 38 when she was assassinated in the town hall alongside her vehicle driver, Anderson Gomes.
